Any tooth replacement option is designed to restore your ability to eat, speak clearly, and smile. Dental implants are modeled after real teeth, and are usually the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Unlike dentures, dental implants are surgically placed into the jaw bone, making implants an effective long term solution.
Dental implants are composed of two parts, a titanium post implanted below the gums, and an attached crown, to give the appearance of natural teeth. As you recover from dental implant surgery, the titanium “root” of the implant will fuse with your bone in a process known as osseointegration. Once the implant has fused with your bone, then Dr. Arndt and Dr. Francis can use it to support your new crown. In cases involving dentures, we can use multiple implants in order to create a denture that “snaps on” to the implants, creating much greater retention and stability to your denture.
If you have sufficient bone in your jaw to support a dental implant, they could be a great choice for you! In addition to the convenience and appearance of dental implants, they have many other benefits:
- By replacing the root of your tooth, they stop bone loss in your jaw
- They look and feel just like natural teeth
- Overall oral health is improved without compromising your other healthy teeth
- Because the completed tooth replacement is all metal, you can never get a cavity around a dental implant
We also fabricate dentures, both partial and complete.
